E L I E S A A B

Eat your precious little Hearts out people

Perfection is real and it comes in the killer form of the Elie Saab Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2014 collection. Nude, pastel, navy and midnight hues pair with floral and delicately embroidered accents to create a real life fantasy. A swoon-worthy line-up of fifties and sixties inspired neck and hemlines encompass the most elaborate, feminine and dreamy collection of 2014 to date. In my eyes, this man can literally do no wrong, the show itself is too good to be true. You're taken on the most beautiful journey through the chronological colour wheel emulating the daily ritual of life, from dawn all the way to dusk and beyond. Elie Saab is the epitome of flawlessness in the world of high fashion labels, so effortless, beautiful and timeless the designs are guaranteed to tug at your heart strings. Love was non-existent in my eyes, until Elie Saab became so perfectly apparent.

Let's take a moment to appreciate God-like creatives such as Elie Saab, and pray that they continue to make our most wild, vivid and glamorous dreams into a successful reality. Pay Elie a visit and discover Heaven.

SPRING IT ON

Yes, that's right spring has sprung and it is the season to be lovely! Beautiful weather and blooming florals are the epitome of this very joyous time of year, and may I also add, my favourite time of the year. I figured that a bright, playful and fresh blog post about my favourite bikini picks for spring/summer was only timely, so please enjoy and pay some serious homage to these amazing labels.

PEONYNLP/ATGTRIANGL

At the moment I am loving geometric cuts paired with floral, fluoro and bright prints. NLP swimwear, formally recognised as ATG, create incredible geometric cut swimwear in a range of fluorescent colours that are the perfect staple for this seasons warm weather. TRIANGL swimwear have a relatively similar approach at creating geometric cuts in their pieces. TRIANGL's new range represents today's youthful bad girl with their implementation of metallics and mesh, California-esque you could almost say and I love it! Lastly, Peony swimwear is one of my local favourites, femininity and florals mixed with every possible colour you could think of when spring comes to mind, need I say more? Complete perfection on all fronts!

Enjoy,

FLINDERS ST STATION

Design Proposal + Competition

I was so amazed by the depth of creativity and innovation from the design proposals for the new and improved Flinders St Station that I just had to post about it. The competition to re-vamp one of Melbourne's most iconic and historical areas has reached it's final phase, with the six shortlisted competitors putting the final touches on their designs for judgement. For three months the six finalists from around the world have developed detailed plans for the historical landmark, and are now ready to be judged by the Australian and international public for the chance to take home the people's choice award.

I have so much appreciation for such innovative designers and their work, I'd have to say though, that finalists number 4 Ashton Raggatt McDougall have definitely won my vote with their sustainable and very green approach to design. Ashton Raggatt McDougall is an architectural firm native to Melbourne, who I think will have a very high chance of winning because of their awareness and familiarity with the iconic area. They, unlike the 5 remaining finalists, have also proposed to build a new school in the historical station which I find very extraordinary and a practical use of the area. Mainly though, I love the flow of their design and how they have incorporated modernity and sustainability but have also preserved the historical and iconic side of the design perfectly.

To see all of the wonderful designs, designers and to vote please visit this page and enjoy

Thank God Winter is drawing to a close! And what better way to celebrate than to introduce my new list of loves for the freshest month of the year. For me, August this year is all about pastels, metals, semi pops of colour and soft leathers. I've made a compilation of my favourite lust haves for this month, each piece whether it be fashion, interior or jewellery related is fresh, soft, bold and classic in a way. I have featured pieces from ACNE, Sass & Bide, Karen Walker and Jonathan Adler which currently fill the top spots on my wish list. My favourite piece on the list is the TRIANGL Twiggy Stardust Bikini, have you ever seen anything so gorgeous? I hadn't, till now that is, I think it's safe to say leather is love and pastels make perfect.

Whilst recently on the lookout for some bright and fresh inspiration, I came across these amazing photographic illustrations by the ever so talented Kari Herer. Kari Herer is a renowned American photographer who draws the majority of her inspiration from her experiences in fine arts and graphic design. She specialises in fine art, portrait, still life and wedding photography in a variety of different and beautiful settings. She boasts an impressive portfolio of work for companies inclusive of: Vera Wang fine papers, Maine magazine and Linda and Harriet. Many of her sublime photographs have also been featured in publications such as: Martha Stewart Weddings, The Knot and Daily Candy among others. Kari currently resides in Portland, Maine, where she lives with her small family and continues to work on capturing marvellous people, places and things.

At the moment I am completely obsessed with her Flora meets Fauna still life illustration prints. They are so delicate, colourful and harmonising. I am in awe of every one of these beautiful prints, each is a different series of photographic illustrations of an animal (Rabbits, Foxes, Owls, Horses, Deer and so on), their bright and alluring personalities come alive as soon as they appear on my screen. Mainly though, I love the positive feeling that radiates from this collection.
